About Dr. Colin Mattingly, Clinical Psychologist in Culver City
I help men understand what’s getting in the way, so they can start figuring out what to do about it.
Therapy for men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, couples, and creatives, in person and online across California.
My clinical work started in 2017, and I’m now a licensed clinical psychologist.
I earned my PsyD in clinical psychology at Antioch University Santa Barbara and wrote my dissertation on ADHD. My training also included a predoctoral internship at the Wright Institute Los Angeles and a postdoctoral fellowship at a private practice in Santa Barbara, and today I see patients in person in Culver City and online throughout California.
In session I listen closely, and I also ask questions and tell you what I’m noticing, since that often helps someone understand a pattern they’ve been stuck in. I work mostly with men in their 20s, 30s, and 40s, along with couples, creatives, and adults with ADHD, and I’m happy to take calls and answer emails between sessions.

My Approach
My training is in psychodynamic and existential therapy, and I shape it around you.
Psychodynamic therapy looks at the patterns that repeat in your life, like what happens in you when you feel criticized or when someone gets close, and where those patterns started. Existential therapy takes on the bigger questions, like whether the career you built still feels like yours and whose expectations you’ve been living by. I also draw on other approaches when they fit your situation better.
“Therapy is a process. It takes time.”
How it works
Free 15 Min Call
Tell me a little about what's been going on, and ask me anything you'd like to know about how I work.
The first few sessions
These are evaluative for both of us, so as I get to know you, you're deciding whether I'm a good fit.
Ongoing sessions
We meet once or twice a week in person or by video, and I'm glad to take calls and emails in between.
Sessions are 50 minutes and $250. I'm out of network and can provide a monthly superbill for possible partial reimbursement, depending on your plan.
11600 Washington Place, Suite 202E, Culver City, and online anywhere in California
The first call is where I hear what’s been going on, and you get to ask me anything.
I’ll ask what brought you to reach out and whether you’ve been in therapy before, including what worked and what didn’t. You can ask me how I work, what sessions look like, or anything else you’d want to know before deciding. If I don’t think I’m the right person to help, I’m happy to point you toward someone who might be.
Take your time to think things through. There’s no rush, and if any questions come up later on, don’t hesitate to reach out.
